Harry Potter Mania!

Okay, the fifth Harry Potter movie -- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix -- opened to blazing sales last week ---$140 million. The first four films totalled $1.175 billion in the U.S. So now, factor in the midnight release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on July 21st and you have Harry Potter mania!!! Many local libraries and bookstores have special late night celebrations and parties planned. Inside the July issue of Bay State Parent magazine is a list of our favorite local events. Harry Potter Overknight at Higgins Armory July 21-22

Getting excited for the Harry Potter book release and movie? Register now to sleep in Massachusetts' own Hogwarts located right here in Worcester. Higgins Armory in Worcester is the perfect site for a one-of –a-kind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Overknight. The evening begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 20th and includes a scavenger hunt, workshop, costume contest, readings, and more. Guests sleep in the Quest gallery and receive their own copy of the 7th book at a special midnight book release. Guests also receive snacks, breakfast, and a souvenir. The experience ends on Saturday, July 21 at 9 a.m. Space is limited. Tickets are $145 per adult and child. Additional tickets are $60 each. The deadline to register is June 27.

Harry Potter Bus Coming to Boston

If you've ever wanted to hop aboard the Knight Bus of Harry Potter fame, you'll have your chance tomorrow, June 5 at two branches of the Boston Public Library. Wizards and Muggles alike are invited to tour the very purple triple-decker bus that was featured prominently in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Fans can record a 30-second video saying why you love the Potter books. Some video clips will be posted on www.scholastic.com/harrypotter. Feel free to dress up like your favorite Potter character.
The bus is at the Providence Public Library, Mount Pleasant Branch today, Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. It will be at the Boston Public Library, Central Library Branch, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., & then off to the Codman Square Branch from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. This is the bus' only stop in Massachusetts. It will be in NYC the eve before the final book release in July.
