The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem is hosting an afternoon of Taiko drumming and Obon dancing as part of its 2008 Japanese Festival from 2 to 4 p.m.
Obon dancing is enjoyed throughout Japan in the month of August, when family members gather to honor their ancestors. Join members of Odaiko New England for a taiko drumming performance and an opportunity to learn Obon dancing with middle school students from Ota, Salem's sister city, in Tokyo, Japan.
