WEEKEND PICK: Free Open House at MFA on Columbus Day

The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston is hosting a FREE open house Monday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. This event will focus on the art of movement. As part of a collaboration with the Boston Ballet, the Museum will feature performances by Boston Ballet soloists John Lam and Melissa Hough as they reinterpret works from the MFA’s collection through dance. In conjunction with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum will also highlight dance from the Caribbean as a celebration of the exhibition America’s Paradise and ‘Isla Del Encanto’: Contemporary Art from the American Caribbean. The MFA’s Open House is part of Opening Our Doors! 2007, Boston’s largest annual free day of cultural activities, organized by the Fenway Alliance, a consortium of arts, cultural, and academic institutions working to enhance the vitality of the Fenway area of Boston.
