6th Annual Taste of Shrewsbury Street Scheduled for Tuesday, June 24

The Shrewsbury Street Area Merchants Association will host the 6th Annual Taste of Shrewsbury Street on Tuesday, June 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. The street-long event includes tastings from the dozens of member restaurants plus live music and other attractions.
Admission is $25 in advance, $30 day-of and proceeds benefit the non-profit Champions for Children designee Youth GROW and the non-profit SSAMA.
"Last year thousands of people turned out for our popular night of great tastes," confirmed Paul T. Barber, Chairman, Taste of Shrewsbury Street 2008. "For 2008, we've got much more fun in store. Our hometown "Restaurant Row" is a great place to dine, and the word is out, louder than ever. What's more, we're making it even easier to travel from one end of the Street to the other. We're looking forward to another awesome night!"
The celebrated eateries of Worcester's own "Restaurant Row" will offer attendees tastings of delectable edibles from nearly 40 ethnically diverse Shrewsbury Street restaurants.
In addition to sampling great eats, attendees will enjoy Street-side live international music, stART On The Street's exciting local art, a Giant Cookie Contest, beverage tastings, live radio broadcasts (hosted by Oldies 98.9 FM WORC-FM, The Pike 100.1 FM, and WXLO 104.5 FM), Italian Singers, and more.
Plenty of parking is available at municipal lots located at Fantasia Street and Albany Street, streetside, and on adjacent side streets.
Taste '08 attendees may leave the car behind and hitch a ride from one end of the Street to the other provided by horse-drawn wagon rides courtesy of Bob Largess, trolley cars sponsored by Bay State Savings Bank and Fidelity Bank, or a shuttle provided by Mezcal Tequila Cantina.
This fun and festive celebration of Shrewsbury Street's culinary talents is presented by the nonprofit Shrewsbury Street Area Merchants Association (SSAMA).
Proceeds from the sale of admission pins benefit Champions for Children, a project of Bay State Savings Bank (for this event the Champions for Children designee is YouthGROW, a program of the Regional Environment Council [REC]), and the non-profit SSAMA.
The pin price is $25 per person in advance, $30 day of. Pins can be purchased at Flagship Bank, Bay State Savings Bank, DCU, and participating Street restaurants.
Online capability for button sales is currently underway.
