Shake It for Shelter 2008 - Take Me Home … Country Road
This special event will be a festive evening of dancing, bidding and good fun – all for a great cause – ending family homelessness.
With rockin’ live music, a dazzling auction and food and drink that fit the mood, Shake It for Shelter has become the annual go-to event for more than 600 Lexingtonians and friends from neighboring towns. Since 2002, more than 1,500 individuals and businesses have participated in Shake It for Shelter.
COMPASS for homeless families benefits from the funds raised at Shake It for Shelter.
This unique program provides homeless families in Greater Boston direct services that support family self-sufficiency, adult and child development and family/parenting strength. COMPASS partners with myriad advocates and organizations committed to ending family homelessness.
Funds are needed to meet the growing demand for COMPASS services.
Over the past year
family homelessness has become more critical as the number of homeless families across Massachusetts and in the shelters we serve has risen by close to 30%.
In addition, several additional Boston and Greater Boston shelters eagerly await COMPASS programs, as part of the recent state mandate to end family homelessness. They need additional resources to give homeless families the tools they need to cope with life in the shelter and to succeed in life after the shelter. Your participation will ensure the success of Shake It for Shelter.
The organizers rely upon generous contributions from corporate and individual sponsors, auction donors and community volunteers. We hope you will be a part of this community-wide effort to end the cycle of family homelessness.
